The Accounting concentration offers business students a variety of programs depending on each student's professional interest and career objectives.

Concentration in Accounting:
The concentration offers three track programs - Students may select from one of the following programs.

1. Financial/Public Accounting - This program is geared for students who intend to work in financial reporting and in public accounting. Students who complete this track should consider sitting for the Uniform Certified Public Accounting Examination.

2. Managerial Accounting - This program is for those students who are interested in working in industry. Students who complete this track should consider sitting for the Uniform Certified Managerial Accounting Examination.

3. Internal Auditing - This program is intended for those students whose interest are in internal auditing within a company. Students who complete this track should consider sitting for the Uniform Certified Internal Auditor Examination.

Minors in Accounting
The minor in accounting provides students with a basic knowledge of the use of accounting information for managerial and investor decision-making. The minor provides a credential to those already working as accountants but do not have a degree in accounting.

Certificate in Accounting
The Accounting Certificate program is designed to meet the needs of individuals who already hold a bachelors degree in another area, whether in business, or outside of business, and who now wish to acquire accounting competence. Regularly matriculated students who complete the required courses, or show evidence of having done so elsewhere, with a grade point average of no less than 2.5 may earn the certificate; however, at least four of the eight accounting curriculum courses must be taken at CSU, Dominguez Hills.

Academic and Career Advisement
Concentration and Career Advising are provided by faculty and can be initiated by students to accommodate individual needs. Names of faculty and their areas of professional expertise are outlined in the departmental offices. Students may obtain advice from faculty about tailoring their academic program toward career goals, about graduate schools and programs, and career opportunities. Students are urged to consult with faculty on these matters.
