Bachelor of Science in Public Administration (B.S. Degree)
The Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration is designed to provide professional preparation for public sector managers. The degree program requires:
1. completion of core courses of public administration & public policy students;
2. a concentration;
3. two additional courses for breadth.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration is a single-field major, which means that students are not required to complete a minor for graduation.

Minor in Public Administration
A minor in Public Administration is designed to provide a basic foundation in public management. The minor is especially appropriate for students who major in the social and behavioral sciences. It is an attractive option to students with majors in fields that lead to public sector employment, such as recreation or health science.

In addition to full-time faculty, the department has part-time faculty who are practicing public managers in their areas of specialization. Several of the full-time faculty also have lengthy careers as public managers.

To compliment the traditional classroom instruction, the department offers a number of activities that enhance the total educational experience of students, sponsoring speakers and professional symposia, and student clubs.

Master of Public Administration (MPA Degree)
The Master of Public Administration (MPA) program is designed to provide high quality professional education for people entering or working in public service professions. The MPA - On Campus program prepares students for careers as professional managers of public sector or non-profit organizations, as well as for research, consulting and teaching careers. The MPA curriculum develops a theoretical foundation for the practice of effective public management in a wide range of public service functional areas at all levels of government. The MPA program is open to full-time and part-time students, immediate post-baccalaureates and experienced practitioners.

MPA courses are only offered in the evenings. After meeting prerequisite requirements, students can finish all other program requirements in two to three academic years if they complete two courses per semester and one or two courses each Summer. The MPA program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA), the professional association responsible for evaluating the quality of MPA degree programs.

Public Administration Associations:
The Dominguez Public Administration Association (DPAA): DPAA is a student club open to all public administration students. The club sponsors guest speakers and social events and acts in an advisory capacity on student/department issues.

The Dominguez Hills Chapter of the Pi Alpha Honor Society (PAA): Pi Alpha Alpha is a national honor society that recognizes the academic accomplishments of outstanding students in the field of public administration. The Dominguez Hills chapter was chartered in 1981 and has a membership of more than 100 students and alumni.
