As an IS student at CSUDH, you are entitled to free, legal copies of all Microsoft development tools and servers and many professional applications. As far as I know, only Word, PowerPoint and Excel are excluded.
Choose the program you want, and download it to your hard drive or a flash drive. The file you download is an optical disk image, with the extension ".iso".
You must "burn" that onto a CD or DVD. You will then install the program from the disc you create.
Your computer probably came with a program to burn CD/DVDs already installed. If it did you can just double click on the .iso file and follow the prompts. (Of course you will need a blank disc).
If your computer does not have a CD/DVD burning program, you must install one, then use it to create the installation disc.
Alternatively, you can "burn" the .iso file onto a flash drive. http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/7-zip.htm To learn more and get a program recommendation, check out this discussion of .iso files.
These instructions for downloading and installing MSDNAA software also include links to both free and commercial disc burning software.
Finally, when you are registered with MSDNAA, you will receive a confirmation email with your user name and password. If you do not see it in your inbox, check to be sure it was not classified as spam.
