Wiki familiarization

The purpose of this assignment is to familiarize you with wikis, tools for collaborative writing.

Create an account at wikispaces.com. Your user name should be your last name followed by your first name. (For example, mine would be PressLarry). If your user name is already taken by someone else, just add a number after it and try again. You will receive a confirmation email to which you must reply, so be sure it does not go into a spam folder

Once you have created your account, you will be able to edit our class wiki. (There is also a link to it on the class home page).

Go to the "Practice area" page -- it is just for playing around and getting used to the editor.

  1. Add or change something on the page (be sure to save the edits)
  2. Change the type font on something
  3. Add some discussion to the page
If you are not easy with the wiki after completing the above, keep playing around with it, review the Wikispaces presentation, or ask for help.

Once you are easy with the wiki, add your name, section and email address to the "Class roster" page. Don't just add it to the start or beginning of the roster, place it in correct alphabetical order, based on your last name. Also be sure that your entry has the same font and size as everyone else's and that the line spacing is the same.

If you see that someone has messed up, repair the damage.

Print the alphabetized roster and turn in the sheet where your name appears.
