Connectivity options within the home

These technologies are in current use within the home. Engineering standards exists for each technologies. For example, WiFi is based on the 802.11 standards of the IEEE, a professional society for electrical engineers.

There is also an equipment manufacturer's trade association for each technology. These trade associations are responsible for promoting and marketing the technology and for testing and certifying equipment to be sure that it complies with the standard, that it interoperates with other manufacturer's equipment.
