Mobile access in business

The speed of third generation cellular networks is motivating professionals who travel or work in the field to access the Internet using "smart" cell phones. Information Week recently summarized the characteristics of several of these devices. While mobile access is expected to increase rapidly, these devices are still quite imperfect, with short battery life and small displays. Most Web sites are also poorly designed for viewing on small screens at this time.

Information week also surveyed 527 business technology professionals to see how mobile devices were used in their companies and which enterprise applications they accessed using mobile devices:
