Windows comes with an email client called Outlook Express which combines both SMTP and POP clients.
A message is composed and sent using and SMTP client. The SMTP server forwards the message to a server used by the message recipient. It is stored there until the recipient reads his or her email using a POP client. The POP client retrieves and displays the message.
Windows comes with an email client called Outlook Express (OE) which can send and receive messages. Since it is both an SMTP client and a POP client, the user must specify several parameters before using OE:
Another handy option is whether or not to leave messages on your POP server after you have read them. That is done on the Advanced tab of the property sheet.
