IPconfig session

This example illustrates the IPconfig command.

This computer has two Ethernet adapters, one wireless and one wired. IPconfig shows that the wired adapter is currently disconnected, and the wireless adapter is connected to an IP network.
Four properties of that connection are shown:

This machine is in the csudh.edu domain.

Its IP address is 155.135.11.43.

The first two bytes (155.135) identifies the network it is connected to. (The 155.135 network has been assigned to CSUDH). The second two bytes (11.43) designates this particular machine on the CSUDH network.

The IP address of the gateway router for this machine is 155.135.1.1.

The ipconfig command has several options, including:

ipconfig /all: show all information
ipconfig /release: release a dynamically assigned IP address and configuration
ipconfig /renew: get a dynamically assigned IP address and configuration
