A human wave

This assignment tests your understanding of waves, frequency and wavelength.

Line up a group of friends or classmates to do the "wave" like at a ball game. The first one should stand then sit down. When he or she sits down, the next one should stand, etc. until the last person stands and then sits down.

  1. How long did it take your wave to propagate from the first person to the last?
  2. What was the frequency of your wave?
  3. What was its wavelength?
