Improving a Web site

TechCrunch 50 is an annual conference where startup companies make short presentations to an audience of journalists and venture capitalists.

I went to the site, and found that it looked pretty good, but seemed to load slowly. Furthermore, it was not very useful to me. My purpose in visiting the site, my "use case," was to find new, interesting applications to use and show to students.

  1. Why did it load slowly?
  2. How would you speed it up?
  3. Given my goal as a user, what would you change to make it more useful?
