Matrix Information Directory Services (MIDS) measures round trip packet time (ping time) between their location and thousands of locations around the world six times a day, seven days a week. This data is analyzed to produce an "Internet Weather Reoprt" on their Web server. MIDS has been doing this for over three years, and, inspite of greatly increased traffic and predictions of the collapse of the Internet, they have found average performance improving at roughly 15% per year.
