This assignment tests your understanding of image encoding. It refers to our simple picture of a house. The picture has 12 unique colors, and we are using a 4-bit code.

  1. How many unique colors could we have with a 1-bit code?
  2. How many unique colors could we have with a 2-bit code?
  3. How many unique colors could we have with a 3-bit code?
  4. How many unique colors could we have with an 8-bit code?
  5. Could we have had more than 12 unique colors with our 4-bit code? If so, how many?
