Two Uses of the <Table> Tag

The <Table> tag was invented by Tim Behrners-Lee for the display of data -- similar to spreadsheets. People do use it for that, but tables are also used for a more suprising application -- controlling the layout of Web pages. The following examples illustrate these two uses of tables:
