VITA PROGRAM
Want to Become a Volunteer for the VITA program?
The VITA Coordinator- To be put on the list
The Room # is SCC-800, our hours are from 9am-2pm
and were open every Saturday.
Our last day of operation is April 7.
Every year, the Accounting society at CSUDH, in coordination wit the IRS, organizes the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. The VITA, as its name implies, is a volunteering program where students from our school volunteer to prepare tax returns for economically disadvantaged people in our local community. During the 2007 tax season, the accounting society will also be organizing the VITA program.
All prospective volunteers are required to go take the online Link and Learn Taxes course. At the end of the course, they are required to pas a test with a score of 70% or more to be eligible to volunteer at the program. Our volunteers are required to take the Basic part (the basic menu on the Link & Learn web page) and present the certificate they receive at the end of the test to the VITA coordinator on January , 2008
Previous year volunteers are also required to pass the test with a minimum score of 70%. Those students are required to take the Returning Student part on the Link & Learn web page and present the certificate they receive at the end of the test to the VITA coordinator on January , 2008.
All volunteers are required to sign the Volunteer Agreement in which they agree to volunteer and not to charge for preparing the tax returns. Also, students must read the Privacy & Confidentiality policy to be more familiar with the privacy requirements of the program.
Volunteers will receive a certificate of Appreciation from the IRS at the end of the program.
The program will be held in SCC-800 every Saturday starting from Feb 1 till April 7 from 9:00 A.M. till 2:00 P.M. Every volunteer is required to be at the VITA site for at least four Saturdays during the tax season. During the tax season, every volunteer is required to find and bring 3 customers to the VITA site and file their tax returns.
The accounting society is looking forward reorganizing this event during the 2008 tax season. All volunteers can reach us for their questions at
